Students will develop professional QA testing skills by conducting comprehensive quality assurance for "Make a Hit!" - the 80's puzzle roguelike game preparing for demo release. The project focuses on identifying bugs, testing gameplay mechanics, and ensuring a polished user experience across different game scenarios, while learning industry-standard QA methodologies and documentation practices.

Deliverables

Specific tasks and deliverables include:

Test Planning & Documentation:

  • Create comprehensive test cases covering gameplay mechanics, UI/UX, and technical performance
  • Develop testing checklists for different game features and scenarios
  • Review and understand technical documentation and game design specifications

Testing Execution:

  • Perform systematic playtesting across multiple game sessions
  • Test puzzle mechanics, roguelike elements, and progression systems
  • Verify UI functionality and visual consistency with 80's aesthetic
  • Check for edge cases and attempt to break game mechanics

Bug Reporting & Documentation:

  • Create detailed bug reports with reproduction steps, severity ratings, and screenshots/videos
  • Maintain organized bug tracking spreadsheet or database
  • Prioritize issues based on impact on gameplay and user experience
  • Provide suggestions for improvements and quality of life features

Final Deliverables:

  • Comprehensive QA report summarizing all findings
  • Updated test case documentation
  • Bug database with categorized issues
  • Recommendations report for demo release readiness
