The project aims to leverage social media platforms to increase awareness and participation in the event. Learners will apply their marketing and event management skills to create engaging content that resonates with the target audience. The project will also involve coordinating specific tasks related to the event, ensuring a seamless and successful execution. By participating in this project, learners will gain practical experience in digital marketing and event coordination, applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. The ultimate goal is to boost attendance and fundraising outcomes for the Foundation.
- Develop a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to the event.
- Create engaging content, including graphics, videos, and posts, to be shared across various platforms.
- Assist in the logistical planning and coordination of the event.
- Monitor and analyze social media engagement metrics to refine strategies.
Social Media [35%]
· Support content creation for social media channels including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
· Contribute ideas for the content calendar, sponsorship and event promotions, and storytelling.
· Provide draft copy for social media posts utilizing key messages and maintaining brand identification.
· Photograph on-site events and capture supporting editorial content.
· Undertake post-event photo editing.
· Assist with posting website updates.
Fundraising and Events [50%]
· Maintain the master list of local businesses for silent auction and raffle requests.
· Research new leads for silent auction items and raffle packages (i.e. identify key contact person(s), mail and email addresses, the niche the business holds in the community).
· Support the development of promotional materials and sponsorship collateral for the signature event.
· Provide on-site support at the signature event including volunteer management.
· Prepare post-event thank you letters for all silent auction donors.
· Assist with the procurement, inventory and maintenance of event supplies.
· Contribute to post-event evalutation and recommendations.
Public and Media Relations [15%]
- Research and verify accuracy of contact information in the existing media list. Research and identify new media contacts.
- Draft press release copy and pitch media for coverage of signature fundraising and other events related to the Foundation or St. Patrick’s Home.
- Monitor and track media coverage.
- Ensure compliance of CP Style Guidelines in your work.
- Research and stay informed on current media landscape related to the business and fundraising sectors in Ottawa.
Providing specialized knowledge in the project subject area, with industry context.
Sharing knowledge in specific technical skills, techniques, methodologies required for the project.
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.

St. Patrick's Home of Ottawa Foundation is a registered non-profit organization that funds priority programs and special projects that contribute to the health, wellbeing and quality of life of the 288 long-term care residents that live at St. Pat's. For example, we fund spiritual and pastoral care, music and horticultural therapy, community and social engagement initiatives, the purchase of essential medical equipment, and more.
