I’m Ali, a fourth-year student at the University of Toronto majoring in Statistics and minoring in Computer Science and Business.
Currently, I am a research assistant on a project analyzing historical trade data from the WWII era to understand the effects of being a British colony. My responsibilities include managing and building databases, assisting with front-end development, and contributing to machine learning models and econometrics.
Previously, I have been an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Department of Statistical Sciences, where I explored complex topics like Entropy and Information Theory under the guidance of Dr. Luai Al Labadi. This experience not only sharpened my analytical skills but also ignited my passion for statistical learning applications. I’ve learned that every piece of data tells a story waiting to be uncovered.
Additionally, in my role as a Software Developer intern at i3 Capital Inc., I had the opportunity to manage the migration of over 10,000 customer records into our CRM system while ensuring data integrity throughout the process. Leading agile processes allowed me to collaborate closely with my team to optimize productivity. There's nothing quite like seeing a project come together through teamwork!
Outside of academics and work, I’m passionate about community initiatives that promote sustainability. Whether it’s volunteering for local environmental projects or simply sharing ideas with friends about how we can all contribute to a greener future.
