Hello! My name is Tommy Tran and I am a Human Factors Researcher. If you are not familiar with the field of human factors, it is an interdisciplinary field within psychology, industrial engineering, and kinesiology to make the world safer, efficient, and user friendly!
I started my academic journey trying to discover the application of psychology in the tech field (not aware of human factors field yet). Struggling to find that field, I went to community college. Jumping around majors, I finally landed on psychology. Not exposed to the different career routes psychology majors had, I chose to study clinical psychology. Transferring to a four year college, the field of clinical psychology provided me a strong foundation of experience in research. In my last year of undergrad, I joined a human factors research lab to explore the different branches of psychology. That opportunity opened the door for further exploration of unique domains and interests within the field of human factors.
With my time in the industry, I was able to experience the domains of cybersecurity, AI, aviation, transportation, ecommerce, and civic. Current area of interest are physical products, simulation training, and AI integration. Current fields I am interested in are healthcare and transportation.
